Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers: Review & Swatches

Hi everyone! There's good news, and there's bad news.  Lets starts with the bad news- I may not be able to get that many posts in this week. :( I am leaving for cheer camp on Wednesday and I won't get back home untill late Sunday night!  I will try for two posts this week.

The good news is *drum role* I bought two of the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers!!! (RSOLL for short) And I'm going to review and swatch them for you!!! *crowd cheering* *mini dance party* *mom walks in on mini dance party* *awkward moment*

I know I may be a little late on the band wagon, as these lippies started popping up in drugstores towards the end of May...but better late then never!  I found these beauties at Walgreens (the RSOLL are exclusively sold at Walgreens) for $5 each.  There are 12 other shades in the line, with 14 total.

The lip lacquers are incredibly pigmented, and they have a great texture to them.  1 swipe= opaque, full, coverage with these bad boys!  They have a really smooth and creamy, non-sticky, texture that I love. I found that these lasted about 3-4 hours on my lips before I felt like I needed to reapply.  The color faded evenly, and it stayed inside my lip line throughout the whole day.  Eating or drinking wipes the color off of your lips quickly, so I would recommend reapplying after meals.  One problem I had with these is that they have a very unpleasant smell, so if you're sensitive to scents you may not like these.

Now to the fun part- swatches!!

Since these lip lacquers are so pigmented, I can wear them 2 ways: sheerly- for a light wash of color, and full on- for completely opaque bold color.  When I wear them sheerly I:
1. Apply lip balm (usually the eos lip balm)
2. Dot the lip lacquer on my lips
3. Spread out the color with my finger

I also love a bold & opaque lip as much as everyone else!  Here's how the lip lacquers look when they're applied regularly:

I think the shade Aurora is my favorite.

I also sometimes mix the 2 shades, which creates various different rose-y shades.

Final Thoughts: APPROVED
 • Opaque color
 • Inexpensive
 • Smooth texture
 •Decent wear time
 •Large shade selection
•Many different ways to wear it

(Only CON= unpleasant smell)

Well that's all for this post! As always, I hope you are having a fabulous day, and I will be sending new posts your way soon. :)

Byeee,
Julia XO

Mini Walgreens Haul

Happy Wednesday guys! I thought I would quickly share with you the 4 things that I purchased during a recent trip to Walgreens.

The reason I actually wanted to go in the first place was because of the Rimmel Apocalips, which have finally come to the US!!! ( but now they're called the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers- thanks for making the name longer Rimmel -____-). They are exclusively sold at Walgreens, which is kind of inconvenient....but I can deal. ;) I purchased two shades: Aurora and Comet.  I will have a full review with lip swatches coming soon, but for now here's a couple arm swatches to hold you over. :)

The next item I purchased was the L'Oreal True Match Pressed Powder in the shade N3- Natural Buff. I've really warmed up to the idea of powder foundation lately, and although this isn't marketed as powder foundation, I have heard it gives some extra coverage so I thought I would give it a try. (I will have a full review up soon)

I also picked up a Jordana Easyliner for Lips in the shade Tawny. I love these lip liners!!! They're super creamy, pigmented, and affordable!  I don't think I will be doing a separate review for this now, because I only have two to show, but I highly recommend this post by Kelly  (who writes the blog vampyvarnish)!

That's all I have to show you guys! As always, I hope you are having a fabulous day, & I will be sending new posts your way soon.

Byeeee xoxoxo,
Julia

July 2nd: My Makeup List

Hey guys! Today I will be starting a new series on my blog. Every month I will have two posts going up pertaining to the makeup list I always keep on my phone.  This is a list of the products that I am planning on purchasing or thinking about purchasing.  At the beginning of the month, I will show you guys a picture of the list, then explain why I'm thinking about purchasing each of the items.

At the end of the month I will do a follow up post showing which products I ended up buying.

If I haven't already reviewed all of the items or hauled them I will add in mini reviews, with pictures, swatches, etc.

Here is my current list:

1.             Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer-The moisturizer I normally use (Aveeno daily moisturizer) has seemed a little to heavy lately now that it's summer and my skin has turned more oily/combo.  I've read that gel moisturizers are much lighter and thinner in texture, so I decided to give one a try.  This particular one has been in two June Favorites videos that I have seen (by Eleventhgorgeous and sparkliebarbeXO) so far and it's reallly affordable, so I'm excited to give it a try.

2.             Clean & Clear persa-gel 10- I do not currently own a spot treatment.   I have pretty good skin, and I don't break out often, but I do get the occasional pimples here and there.  I don't know if I'm bad at concealing, or if my concealers bad, but every time I try to cover up a really bad spot it doesn't work. It might take away the redness, but it calls attention to it more by making it cakey and gross, and everyone can see that you tried and failed to cover up your pimple(s)                                                                                                                                                                        I've decided to take a different approach, and focus more on treating my pimples than trying to cover
them. That's where this product comes in. Two of my top favorite YouTube ladies (emilynoel83 and allthatglitters21) have talked about this being their #1 spot treatment, so I'm really excited to try it.

3.             Elf Studio Eyebrow Kit in Medium- I hate my eyebrows.  Always have, and I might always will.  There huge, they have no shape, and they don't lie flat.  Apparently (according to like every beauty guru/blogger EVER) filling in your brows is magical.  Next time I'm at Target I plan on picking up the elf brow kit in the shade medium. I've heard good things about this kit, and it's only $3, so I won't be selling my soul for something I might not like!  I guess it's just impossible for me to resist something that everyone loves!

4.             Elf Studio Makeup Mist & Set- I really want the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, but I just can't justify buying something that expensive unless I know for sure it will work. For now, I decided I could hold myself over with the Elf Mist & Set Spray.  Even if it doesn't work to prolong the wear time of my makeup, I can always ind other uses for the spray bottle.  Either way $3 well spent.

5.             Elf Small Stipple Brush-This is Emily's (or emilynoel83's) favorite brush to apply cream blush.  I've always had a really hard time with cream blushes, so I thought I would give this brush a go.  Again for $3 I'm not taking a huge gamble!  (although I have discovered elf is slightly dangerous- it all adds up!!)

6.             L’Oreal True Match Blush in Barely Blushing- I have I small infatuation with blushes, especially soft and highly pigmented peachy-pink blushes! According to Dana (or lollydolly128) the L'Oreal True Match Blush in Barely Blushing fits that description perfectly.  She has been raving about this blush for awhile, and I've been drooling over it the whole time.  The next time I'm at Target I might just sneak it into my basket when I'm not looking.  ;)

7.             Physicians Formula Matte Collection Eyeshadow Quad in Classic Nudes- I own the Physicians Formula Matte Collection Eyeshadow Quad in Canyon Classics and I love it.  It's smooth, it's pigmented and super affordable! You guys know how it goes- when you love something you want more...lol.  I'm now interested in the quad called Classic Nudes.  It's mostly browns, the color I wear the most, so I would get a lot of use out of its.
8.       Rimmel London BB Cream-  I wear BB creams 80% of the time.  I'm always looking for the another good to use, one with good coverage.  (By the way would you guys like a post on my BB cream collection? Let me know. :)   This particular BB cream is known for having great coverage, so I think I will end up giving it a try.

Well that's all that is currently on my makeup list.  Do any of you keep a makeup list?  If so what's on it?  Would you recommend any of these products?  I hope you are all having a fabulous day, I hope to have another post up soon!

Daily Randomness:
Had early cheer again his morning. -_________-
I think I have decided on a sheer red lip for the 4th of July.  That way I can still kind of wear what I want to without offending the relatives! ;)
I really want to try out some nail art....but it's only fun on my right hand. :/ lol #lazygirlprobs
I feel like I referenced YouTube people too much in this post.

What is "The Makeup List"?

For the past 2 or so years, I have become a big beauty enthusiast.  I've read tons of blogposts, and watched a boatload of beauty videos on YouTube. I've also purchased more beauty producs than necessary, based on what that the beauty bloggers and youtubers that I look up to so much have recommended of course!

I have loved every minute of my "beauty journey," but for a while now I've been wishing for someone to share my experiences with. Someone to celebrate with me when the Rimmel Apocalips become available in the US as the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers.  Someone to listen to my disappointment when a product doesn't turn out as amazing as I thought it would.  Someone who will actually care about what I got at Ulta, or what is currently on my makeup list.

This is where my new blog, The Makeup List,  comes in.  This will be my online beauty journal, where I share my beauty experiences through reviews, hauls, etc.  I will try to start out with posting twice a week, but hopefully I will be able to increase that number as time passes.  (I also hope that as time passes when I write "you guys" there's actually people out there reading it lol).

Daily Randomness:

  • Last week I ordered some new makeup storage from The Container Store, and the package came today! Super excited- I love the way it all turned out! You can expect a post about my makeup storage by the end of the month :)
  • There's a Market Peach candle burning in my kitchen right now and it smells amazingly divine ;)
  • Had to get up at 6:00 this morning for cheer. Needless to say I am really tired right now.
  • Trying to decide how to do my makeup for the 4th of July. I will be celebrating with family so it can't be too crazy, but at the same time I feel like the holiday is an excuse to just go bold and celebrate? I don't know.
